Two Weeks after the SATS, The Birds Came after Me
The first time a bird arrived,
A sparrow from Edison Tech
I felt elated and yet I hated
That not more had arrived yet.
Slowly they filed in,
Like migrants returning for Spring,
MIT, Drexel, and Central Florida,
Harvard and Kettering.
Birds of all different sizes,
Some glossy, some plain
Some from the rolling hills,
Others from the sugar cane.
And yet they all claim to know
A haven for hard workers.
Surely this can’t be completely true
There must be some lurkers.
Sprawling august campuses,
Students studying by sunset.
Things probably won’t seem as unique
Once I live there I bet.
Slowly the birds build their nests
And sing their ubiquitous song.
Even my parents sing it too;
They want me to sing along!
So I took the birds, opened their cages
Them free I set.
Let them return back to their homes,
I’m not ready to leave quite yet.

Liu, great post and writing, I found your site recently and am very impressed.. Thanks so much for sharing.. This particular post made me chuckle.. We are in the college publication business sort of, we specialize in admissions photography for schools all over the country.. We strive for “real and natural” images of each and every campus we photograph, as they are unique… Would love for you to take a look at our work and let us know what you think both good and BAD… http://www.fjgaylor.com and our blog: http://www.fjgaylor.blogspot.com .. Thanks so much
